The next day, the newspaper announces that Wonka is reopening the factory and has invited five children to come on a tour, after they find a Golden Ticket in a Wonka Bar. Each ticket find is a media sensation and each finder becomes a celebrity.
One day, Charlie sees a ten-shilling note dollar bill in the US version buried in the snow. He downloads a Wonka Bar and finds the fifth and final golden ticket. The ticket says he can bring one or two family members with him and Charlie's parents decide to allow Grandpa Joe to go with him. Wonka takes the kids and their parents go inside where they meet Oompa-Loompas , a race of small people who help him operate the factory since he rescued them from poverty and fear in their home country Loompaland.
The other kids are ejected from the tour in comical, mysterious and painful ways, befitting their various greedy characters and personalities.
Augustus gets sucked up a pipe after falling into the Chocolate River in the Chocolate Room, Violet inflates into a giant blueberry after sampling an experimental three-course chewing gum meal of tomato soup, roast beef and blueberry pie in the Inventing Room, Veruca is thrown down the rubbish chute in the Nut Room after she tries stealing a nut-testing squirrel and they consider her a "bad nut", and Mike gets shrunk after he tries to be the first person to be sent by television in the Television Room's Television Chocolate Technology.
During each elimination, the Oompa-Loompas sing a morality song about them. With only Charlie remaining, Wonka congratulates him for "winning" the factory and, after explaining his true age and the reason behind his Golden Tickets, names Charlie his successor. They ride the Great Glass Elevator to Charlie's house while the other four children go home Augustus squeezed thin, Violet all blue in the face, Veruca covered in trash, and Mike stretched ten feet tall.
Afterwards, Wonka invites Charlie's family to come live with him in the factory. In the initial, unpublished drafts of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory nine golden tickets were distributed to tour Willy Wonka's secret chocolate factory and the children faced more rooms and more temptations to test their self-control.
The brief note before the story described the story as having been left out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory due to already-brimming number of misbehaving children characters in the tale. In , The Times reprinted "Spotty Powder" as a "lost" chapter, saying it had been found in Dahl's desk, written backwards in mirror writing the way Leonardo da Vinci wrote his journal. The spots fade on their own a few hours later.
The boat sails into the tunnel. Theres no knowing where were going!
There is a long pause in the dark. The lights come up on a row of doors along the river. Keep an eye out, were passing some very important rooms here. On your left, youll see clotted cream, coffee cream, hair creamMRS. And behind this door, unmarked due to renovations Mooing is heard, with whips cracking. WONKA: For your information, little girl, whipped cream isnt whipped cream at all, unless its been whipped with whips!
Everybody knows that. And here we have jelly beans, and past that- oh!
Stop the boat! I want to show you something. Behold- the Inventing Room!
Everyone gets out of the boat and enters the Inventing Room. Its a mad scientists candy laboratory. Now, everyone enjoy yourselves, but please, just dont touch anything, okay? Go on. Violet approaches a strange-looking contraption. Wonka, whats this? Let me show you! A hand pops out of the machine and hands him a Gobstopper. Theyre for children who are given very little allowance money. You can suck on it all year, and itll never get any smaller!
If you tried chewing a Gobstopper, youd break all your little teeth off. But they sure do taste terrific. He crosses to another machine. You suck down one of these little boogers and in exactly half an hour, a fresh new crop of hair will start growing all over the top of your little noggin. With a moustache and a beard!
MIKE: Who wants a beard? All those hip, jazzy, super cool, neat, keen, and groovy cats. It's in the fridge, daddy-o! Are you hip to the jive? Can you dig what I'm layin' down?
I knew that you could. Slide me some skin, soul brother! He puts out his hand for a high five. Mike does not return it. Two hands pop out from under the hair and give thumbs ups.
Oooh- watch this! Wonka pulls a lever, and a machine goes through an amazing process, before finally, anticlimactically, dispensing a stick of chewing gum. Violet takes it immediately. MIKE: You mean thats it?
Its a stick of the most amazing and sensational gum in the whole universe. Know why? Because this gum is a full three-course dinner all by itself! SALT: Why would anyone want that? Wonka pulls out note cards to read off his answer. Just one strip of Wonkas Chewing Gum and that is all you will ever need at breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The tickets start to be found to a very special boy Charlie. After winning the golden tickets Charlie goes with his grandpa and joins with rest of the children to the most amazing chocolate factory ever. Charlie Bucket comes from a poor family, and spends most of his time dreaming about the chocolate that he loves but usually can't afford.
Things change when Willy Wonka, head of the very popular Wonka Chocolate empire, announces a contest in which five gold tickets have been hidden in chocolate bars and sent throughout the country. The kids who find the tickets will be taken on a tour of Wonka's chocolate factory and get a special glimpse of the wonders within. Charlie miraculously finds a ticket, along with four other children much naughtier than him.
The tour of the factory will hold more than a few surprises for this bunch.
